𝐓𝐫𝐮𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐍𝐚𝐢𝐥 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞
There was once a little boy with a bad temper. His father gave him a bag of nails and told him that every time he lost his temper, he must hammer a nail into the back of the fence.
On the first day, the boy drove 37 nails into the fence. Over the next few weeks, as he learned to control his anger, the number of nails hammered each day dwindled. Eventually, the boy discovered it was easier to hold his temper than to drive those nails.
Finally, the day came when the boy didn’t lose his temper at all. He told his father, who suggested he now pull out one nail for each day he was able to hold his temper. The days passed, and the boy was finally able to tell his father all the nails were gone.
The father took his son by the hand and led him to the fence. He said, “You have done well, my son, but look at the holes in the fence. The fence will never be the same. When you say things in anger, they leave a scar just like these. You can put a knife in a man and draw it out—it won't matter how many times you say I’m sorry, the wound is still there.”

This story teaches us that our words and actions, especially in anger, can have lasting consequences. Ephesians 4:29 says, “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up…”
Anger is a natural emotion, but we are called to respond with wisdom and self-control. Like the boy with the nails, we must learn to take responsibility for our reactions, seek peace, and become instruments of healing rather than harm.
𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐓𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐲:
Is there someone you’ve hurt with your words or actions? Seek them out. Offer sincere repentance. Ask God to help you be a peacemaker. Let your words heal, not wound.

Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the lesson that even the smallest actions can leave a lasting impact. Teach me to speak life and not destruction. Give me the patience to hold back when anger rises and the wisdom to build others up with love and grace.
Help me repair the fences I may have damaged, and grant me the humility to ask for forgiveness and the strength to change. Let me be a reflection of Your gentleness in a world often driven by harshness.
May my life be a testimony of Your redeeming power and unending love.
In Jesus' name,
